What a Jeep Trail in New Mexico?

We were on the move and landed in Cimarron State Park. We choose the Maverick Campground because of the fishing options. The Cimarron River flows through this narrow forested canyon near the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway. The drive through the park in awesome! The park offers fly fishing, interesting views, hiking and equestrian trails. Also, the wild life offers opportunities like bears. birds and deer.

Norma and Nanci checked out the Flea Market today and enjoyed visiting with local vendors. Norma's favorites were the strawberry smoothie with her egg, green hatched chilies  and cheese sandwich. She also included scones and homemade bread for Craig.

After a morning of fishing Craig decided we needed a jeep ride instead of a nap so off we went after the camp host suggested Red River area. He suggested a 10 mile ride up several mountains to Goose Lake. Wow, what a ride! We crossed several streams, narrow trails on a side of the mountain, through a lot of Pine and Aspen trees and SNOW! Yes, Snow at 11,500 elevation. Enjoy the pictures and if you are ever in the area check out the Goose Creek Lake Trail! Bummer is we never made it to the lake because of the snow. Maybe next time we will take our hiking boots and hike the last mile in snow. Oh, we saw a huge Elk! Awesome day.
